Happy Halloween!

🎃It's Halloween🎃 For any parent this is a crazy busy time, and for my family, who hosts a huge Halloween party, this week is my “go-time” - photos of my house décor and how I will be spending my day today getting ready forthcoming. But I digress. (this photo is Halloween 2017)

🎭🎭🎭 Halloween… time to dress up and pretend to be someone we are not. It made me start thinking about the masks many of us wear. Not just on Halloween, but every day. The mask we may put on to fit in because as a society we all want to fit in. We preach individuality and teach our children to stand up and be who they are, not to worry about what others think of them, but do we follow our own advice? 🎭🎭🎭 Until recently I wore a mask a lot. I kept my spiritual work hidden. I cared about fitting in and not rocking the boat. I worried about what people thought of me and sacrificed my own voice so others would like me. It was exhausting. At times I completely lost sight of who I was. 🎭🎭🎭 So this week, we will put on a mask for one day of dress up. It is fun to be someone different for a few hours, but as we celebrate this holiday maybe it is an opportunity to celebrate who you really are and celebrate you. No matter who you are, you are beautiful and you have something beautiful to share with this world. Take off the mask, be who you are and maybe you will find there are others like you being brave and showing themselves too.
